Another Grateful Post

I need another reminder of the blessings in my life. I need to do this more often.

Today I am grateful for:

1. Two hours of kid-free time to take a pilates class to strengthen my body.

2. The person that invented infrared saunas. They are the answer to all of the problems of cold people in the world.

3. Lego. A good distraction for little people but also for big people too.

4. Food Trucks. Tiny yummy things make my tummy happy.

5. The little people who make me laugh.

Bad Day

Today I had a bad day. While I don't feel like I have much going for me at the moment, I need to practice some gratitude.

Today I am grateful for:

1. The health of my husband, me and my children.
2. The random phone call from a family member. Talking to another grown up was heart warming.
3. The children not fighting.
4. Quite time after the children are asleep, mending and watching a fabulous movie.
5. The rain on my face on the multiple walks up and down the hill, and the week of sunshine starting tomorrow. It can only get better.

Apple Saves the Day

Now that there is a blogger app, I just might post more often! Thank you apple gods!!!

And...the smallest of the littles is in preschool twice a week! I will have five whole hours to do whatever I want. Like...a yoga class, or painting, or other craftiness. Woohoo! Let the party begin!!!

A New Love

I have found a new time-suck. Pinterest is the best thing since Facebook! It reminds me of twitter, but with pictures instead of words. Twitter bores me unless I am looking for specific information. There are so many people whining and complaining. There is too much doomsday talk - my nerves can't handle it.

But Pinterest...it is beautiful. So many gorgeous and intelligent images to sift through. It makes me happy and excited to create new things. I like that I can keep track of projects I want to make with pictures instead of links to websites.

Look for me if you are there too. So much fun!

A Short Story

Once upon a time there was a strange little snail that magically appeared on a black automobile. He didn't know that how he got there or what was going to happen so he just kept doing what snails do - sliming along.

Despite the car moving and the torrential rains, the snail kept on sliming.

In his mind, he slimed all the way from the top of the car, down the window, and down the door - but in reality he slimed all the way from Richmond to Downtown Vancouver in 25 minutes. Pretty fast for a snail. At the end of the car ride a beautiful princess carried him to the nearest greenery for a snack and the opportunity to keep on sliming.

The moral of this story is that no matter that life throws your way, keep doing what you are made to do and you will end up where you are supposed to be. Just keep on sliming.

Gratitude

When Miss B was newborn I had a lot of trouble feeling like what I was doing was worth something...anything. In order to feel more accomplished I kept a small calendar where I wrote down what I did everyday. Little things like walking to the store, having a visitor, going to the doctor. I liked seeing the filled up pages. It reminded me that I was doing things. I felt useful.

Being a stay-at-home mom can be monotonous and boring. I very rarely talk to other adults, other than nods and smiles in the school halls or the cashier at the grocery store. I do laundry and clean up toys. I play endless games of Transformers. I make three meals and many snacks everyday. I am feeling disconnected again. I need to start keeping track of the things we do, the things I am grateful for. My thinking is that if I only type a few things a day, maybe I'll get into the grove of blogging again.

I am putting out the the universe that I am in need of a new tribe. My old tribe has disbanded due to divorce, different schooling practices, kids of different ages and moving to other countries. I am desperate for people that like the things I like, parent the way I parent and laugh at the same things I laugh at. Is it too much to ask? Yes, but it doesn't hurt to ask anyway.

So... today, I am grateful for the courage I had to open the computer and type this while the smallest kid is distracted by (natural) cheesies and tv. I am so happy the sun is back and drawing us outside. We made it to the library and to Miss B's musical performance despite multiple tantrums. We had a quick family dessert outing for icecream and ate it on top of the Wall Centre's perfectly manicured grass.

See, I did do something today. There were a few wins. :)
